Our Artwork Preparation Guidelines help you prepare files for clean, accurate printing on your custom packaging. Always use the final BoxBaba-approved dieline and submit editable or print-ready artwork in the requested format, commonly AI, EPS or PDF. Prepare colors according to the approved CMYK or PMS workflow and use high-resolution graphics, typically around 300 DPI at final size where applicable. Extend backgrounds and edge-to-edge graphics into the designated bleed area. Keep important text, logos, barcodes and other critical artwork inside the safe area, and review your final digital proof carefully before approving the artwork for production.
The red cut line marks where the packaging material will be trimmed to create the final box shape. Keep important text and critical design elements safely inside the safe area and away from these cutting edges.
Perforation lines are shown as dotted lines when required and indicate areas designed for controlled tearing or separation. They may be used for tear-away sections or other functional packaging features.
The black bleed boundary shows how far backgrounds, colors and graphics should extend beyond the final cutting area. Extending artwork into this area helps prevent unwanted white edges after trimming.

White packaging looks great until it doesn’t. If you use cheap, uncoated board, the boxes will start to look yellow or “creamy” after a few weeks under warehouse lights. Even worse, if the “white” is just a thin layer of ink, the grey recycled fibers will show through at every fold. At BoxBaba, we use Solid Bleached Sulfate (SBS) paperboard. Most budget suppliers use a “grey-back” board with a thin white coating. The second you fold it, the coating cracks and shows the ugly grey underneath. We focus on high-grade SBS because it’s a premium, virgin-fiber board. It stays a “blue-white” (the brightest white) and provides a perfectly smooth surface for printing. Whether you are selling high-end cosmetics or tech gadgets, the box won’t look “recycled” or cheap when it hits the customer’s hands.
The biggest fear with white boxes is that they get dirty the second you touch them. We offer Anti-Scuff Matte and High-Gloss coatings that create a protective barrier. If a delivery driver has a little dust on their hands, it won’t leave a permanent grey smudge on your packaging. These coatings also prevent “ink set-off,” which is when the color from one box rubs onto the white surface of the box stacked next to it in the shipping case.
When you print on white, your colors have to be perfect. On lower-grade board, the ink “soaks in” and looks dull.
